The founder
GrowthPains is led by Renier Janse van Rensburg.
Renier started in retail, hospitality, and automotive before qualifying as an accountant through EY in South Africa. From there, he spent nearly three decades delivering operations, data, and transformation programmes across Blackstone, HSBC, RBS, Capco, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Deloitte, and PwC. That work included building project teams from scratch up to 65 people, managing multi-million pound budgets, and delivering across 22 countries with teams and stakeholders spanning many more.
Throughout that time, he also built and mentored startups, launched small businesses, and set up operations for family ventures.
In 2006, he founded GrowthPains, and in late 2025 decided to bring the operational discipline built in large-scale complex environments into growing businesses that need it but can't access it through the usual channels.

We don't write reports and walk away. We work directly with business owners and their teams. We build and embed the operational structure, train the team to run it, and stay available if support is needed.
